Piano Sonatas in A Major, D.959 & in B-Flat Major, D.960

Franz Schubert composed these masterfully crafted solo piano sonatas in 1828, soon after receiving his devastating health diagnosis. D.959 is the embodiment of the composer’s sonic contemplation on his struggle with life and resilience, with profound themes bursting with melodic romanticism. D.960, being Schubert’s final piano masterpiece, showcased a new side of his music imbued with an intimate understanding of the life and death of emotion. Together with D.959, they remained unpublished till a decade after his passing. These two sonatas secured immortality in the annals of piano compositions in innovative harmony and lyricism.
