Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope

Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is NASA's upcoming infrared space observatory, scheduled to launch by 2027, designed to study dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics with a field of view about 100 times larger than the Hubble Space Telescope's.

It carries a 2.4-meter primary mirror (same size as Hubble's) but with the Wide Field Instrument providing a much wider survey capability, plus a Coronagraph Instrument for direct exoplanet imaging.

Named after NASA's first chief astronomer, often called the "Mother of Hubble," it will conduct large-scale surveys including the High Latitude Wide Area Survey for dark energy and cosmology, micro-lensing surveys for exoplanets, and time-domain astronomy.
